About this Auction
Online Auction Guidelines
- The online auction will open on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at 8:30pm PST.
- The online auction will close on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at 6:00pm PST. Bidding on an item will stop when the online auction is closed.
- Upon the close of the auction, the winner's credit card will be charged and a receipt will be emailed to the email address on file. Please be sure to add notification-donotreply@giveffect.com to your email's Safe Senders list so this receipt does not end up in your spam folder.
- Instructions will be sent to auction winners the day after the auction closes and payments have been made to coordinate receiving their items, if applicable. Some items, like tickets or gift certificates, may be sent virtually over email. We highly encourage winners to pick up their items from the Writers Guild Foundation headquarters; if an item is shipped, WGF is not responsible for lost or damaged items. WGF will not ship items internationally.
- All sales are final. There will be no exchanges or refunds unless otherwise noted. All items are "as is". The Writers Guild Foundation (WGF) has attempted to describe and catalog items correctly, but does not warrant or represent and shall in no way be responsible for the correctness of descriptions, genuineness, authorship, provenance, or condition of the items.
- It is the winning bidder's responsibility to make the necessary arrangements for special experiences or other items. Certificates issued are one-of-a-kind and, in most cases, cannot be replaced if lost or stolen. Expiration dates are firm and, in most instances, cannot be extended.
- The auction item fair market value listed is an estimate. Items have not been appraised unless so noted. The amount you pay above this fair market value estimate is normally tax deductible as a charitable contribution. Please consult your tax advisor to clarify the amount of deduction.
Online Auction FAQ
Can anyone participate in the online auction?
The auction is open to everyone 18 years and older. Some items, like special experiences, may have additional age requirements. We encourage you to share the auction link with your family and friends.
How do I participate in the online auction?
To participate in the auction, you just need to register to bid. Bidders will be responsible for paying immediately upon winning and must coordinate pick-up of their items from the Writers Guild Foundation. Instructions will be sent to the winners after the auction closes.
What technology will I need to participate?
To view and bid on auction items, you will need access to a computer or mobile device with internet connection. You will be required to enter your email address to participate, as you will receive email notifications regarding your bids. We recommend that you check the website or your email periodically to see the status of your bids.
Can I pay by cash/check by mail or in person?
We cannot accept payments by cash or check at this time to ensure that all transactions can be fulfilled in a timely manner. Upon registering to bid, you will be asked to provide credit card information. Item winners will be charged on their listed credit card immediately when the auction closes on November 20. This credit card information will not be used otherwise.
Is my item purchase tax deductible?
Please consult your tax advisor to clarify the amount of your tax deduction. Usually, the amount you pay above an item's fair market value is tax deductible as a charitable contribution.
How do I pick up my items?
You will receive an email with instructions after the auction closes to coordinate pick-up of your items. Some items, like tickets or gift certificates, will be sent virtually over email.
