A “Little Free Library” made and decorated by the University of Rochester students in the Uof R Habitat Campus Chapter. A Little Free Library is a book-sharing box to put in front of your house or business where anyone passing by may take a book or share a book. A post and concrete are also included to help you install it. The first one was built in 2009 by the late Todd Bol in Hudson, Wisconsin. He mounted a wooden container designed to look like a one-room schoolhouse on a post on his lawn and filled it with books as a tribute to his mother, who was a book lover and school teacher. There are now thousands of them around the country and almost one hundred of them in Rochester and Monroe County. U of R students built these to honor Todd Bol, and even included books for the libraries!
