Bryan Stevenson – AFP 2018 Closing Keynote Speaker
Any nonprofit and/or fundraising professional worth their salt knows that fundraising can be difficult and tireless work. Because of this, a key ingredient for success in fundraising is an inspiration. Along with persistence, dedication, and the ability to build and maintain strong relationships, inspiration can keep a fundraising professional and the organization they are part of, moving forward in lean times. And it is an inspiration that closing keynote speaker Bryan Stevenson will bring to the 2018 International Fundraising Conference.
Hosted by the Association of Fundraising Professionals and taking place in New Orleans, AFP 2018 will bring the best and brightest from the world of fundraising to the Big Easy. Every professional in attendance will know what it is like to be tasked with creating a fundraising strategy that works effectively, the tools and software needed to do so, and the level of inspiration needed for fundraising to go up year after year.
Because fundraising can be so daunting a task, inspiration for fundraising professionals has to come from anywhere and everywhere: a blog article, a Tweet, a lunch meeting with a supporter, a show on television, a commercial, you name it. This year, the professionals attending the International Fundraising Conference are extremely lucky. That’s because they are sure to get boatloads of inspiration from this year’s dynamic closing keynote speaker.
Bryan Stevenson is the Executive Director of the Equal Justice Initiative in Montgomery, Alabama and is a constant force in the fight against poverty and racial discrimination in the criminal justice system. His years of work as a human rights and public interest lawyer have allowed him to dedicate his career to helping the poor, the incarcerated, and the condemned.
Mr. Stevenson has served as a source of inspiration for thousands, if not millions, of people worldwide. He’s appeared as a speaker at TED in 2012 and on CNN, Oprah’s Super Soul Sunday, and CBS This Morning. Now he looks to bring that inspiration to the thousands of fundraising professionals who will be in attendance at IFC 2018. “We cannot change the world if we stay at a distance from the problems we are trying to fix. I believe that there is power in proximity,” said Stevenson at the November 2017 Obama Foundation Summit in Chicago.
At the 2018 International Fundraisers Conference, Bryan Stevenson is sure to bring a message of keeping hope alive and working towards real, long-lasting change. And for fundraising professionals, this is a chance to breathe new life into fundraising ideas, teams and strategies from an unlikely source of inspiration.
