1/2 Marathon for Veterans

1/2 Marathon for Veterans

About This Campaign

Every single day, 22 veterans and 1 active duty serviceman commit suicide. That's almost 1 an hour. These are the men and woman who have fought for our freedoms and protect this country, and unfortunately many of them have a tough time transitioning back to civilian life. They struggle with mental illness, PTSD, traumatic brain injuries sustained from deployment, financial issues, homelessness and hunger. I have been volunteering for Stop Soldier Suicide for about 2 years and have been able to see the great work this organization (founded and staffed all by veterans!) does for veterans. They help servicemen and women from every branch of the military and have supported hundreds of veterans in almost every possible manner. This organization truly inspires me and I would love to give back. I'm asking for your help, as well. On September 13, I'm running the Suffolk County Half Marathon and I would like to raise money for Stop Soldier Suicide. Your donations go to helping veterans directly. This could mean giving a veteran a home, food, access to a counselor and mental help, legal aid or a variety of other things. Stop Soldier Suicide has also been raising money to complete their 24/7 Resource Center, which will further help vets in need. I would be so appreciative if you could donate any amount and support my half marathon and this organization! Even $1 would be so generous, though if you cannot, please just check out Stop Soldier Suicide's facebook page and website and get the word out. Veterans are 2-3 times more likely to take their lives as civilians. They need our help and I hope you'll join me in supporting this cause. Thank you so much!

Stop Soldier Suicide

Campaign to Support Stop Soldier Suicide

Help us end Veteran suicide.

Stop Soldier Suicide is the first national Veteran-founded and led non-profit relentlessly dedicated to the epidemic of - and cure for - suicide among Service Members.

We understand the problems and issues of Military suicide are too complex for a single answer. Our skilled Case Managers find the right solution for each person.

And it's not a single conversation. We follow up over a two year period help as long as is needed.

Our evidenced-based approach makes us truly unique.

And our mission is simple:

We offer empowerment to those who have served and are serving still.

Our Veterans deserve all that we can give which is such a small comparison to what they have given. God Bless all Veterans.
