While we are very proud of our past, we are even more excited about our future! Part of that future is the Soulet family (pictured above) who will be partnering with us to build home #85, sponsored by CASH EXPRESS. This will be the first multi-generational home located in our West End neighborhood. Julio and Aileen will live in the home alongside their daughter, and Aileen’s parents Luis and Maria.
This past week we visited the Soulet family at their current rental property to see their current living conditions and talk to them about their new home. Aileen was the most excited, she said “we are so thankful to have a proper home again.” She added gleefully “we have hope again”. Aileen suffers from an autoimmune disease and her husband Julio has a neurological condition causing limited mobility. Their current home has mildew issues, is not handicap accessible, and requires they pay over 50% of the family’s monthly income to live there. They are most excited about having a walk-in shower that Julio and Luis can use without the risk of falling. This home will give them the handicap accessibility they need and the ability to afford their home, not leaving them to choose between paying rent and buying the medications they need.
