Event to Support Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Los Angeles

Our mission:  To provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring professionally supported one-to-one mentoring relationships that change their lives for the better, forever. 

Our vision:  To see ALL children reach their FULL POTENTIAL in life.

In 1955, Walt Disney and Meredith Wilson believed that all children - regardless of their background - should have the opportunity to dream.  After encountering many fatherless boys, together they founded Big Brothers of Los Angeles.  Our Big Sisters program was founded in Los Angeles in 1972 to serve vulnerable girls.  In order to strengthen and expand services to significantly more youth, the two agencies merged in 2001 to become Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Los Angeles (BBBSLA)

Every year, BBBSLA reaches over 1,600 youth through five unique mentoring programs:  1) community based mentoring; 2) school-based mentoring; 3)high school Bigs mentoring; 4)workplace mentoring; 5) Women In Entertainment Mentoring program.   BBBSLA's innovative approaches to expanding mentoring opportunities help to close both the achievement and opportunity gaps that exist for too many underserved children and youth.  The impact our programs are  reflected in our statistical data - our kids achieved a 96% high school graduation rate across all programs.  And, 92% of those graduates are college bound.
