About This Campaign

We are fundraising for Camp Trailblazers, a Children's Camp sponsored by AboutFace International (www.aboutface.ca). This is a camp for children who have congenital or acquired facial differences. It provides an opportunity for girls and boys between the ages of 10 to 18 living with a facial difference to spend the weekend together, throwing themselves into a whole range of outdoor activities and challenging their own physical boundaries. The program supports physical, mental and emotional development through independent challenges and team building exercises to increase self-esteem, learn coping strategies for teasing, taunting and bullying; develop a social network for friendship and support; as well as inspire healthy and active lifestyles.

There is currently no division of Camp Trailblazers in Saskatchewan. In September 2014 we worked with Aboutface and Central & Northern Saskatchewan Cleft Lip & Palate Program to send 6 Saskatchewan children to Camp Arnes in Winnipeg, Manitoba. We were able to fundraise the required funds to fly out with the 6 children to camp. The children really enjoyed themselves and had a blast. This year (September 2016) we hope to send ~12 children (including all of the 6 children that were there last year). Help us send some very deserving kids to camp!
AboutFace Craniofacial Family Society

Campaign to Support AboutFace Craniofacial Family Society

Every year in Canada, approximately 15,000 babies are born with a facial difference like cleft lip and palate, port wine stain, or hemangioma. Additionally, 50,000 individuals will acquire a facial difference this year alone as a result of trauma or health issue. For 25 years, AboutFace has aided individuals with a facial difference in experiencing personal enrichment and growth. Founded in 1985, AboutFace has since grown to be a widely respected organization serving affected individuals at every stage of life. AboutFace is the only Canadian charitable organization that provides emotional, peer and social support, resources and educational programs to individuals with facial differenes and their families. We offer experiential programs like the highly successful Camp Trailblazers - a camp where kids with facial differences can be themselves and gain confidence in a welcoming environment, and our services include monthly support calls for parents and affected individuals. AboutFace also seeks to increase public understanding and acceptance of people living with facial differences through public awareness and education so we can stop the judgment of people who look different.
