In Santa Cruz County, 42% of seniors do not have enough income to meet their basic needs, often being forced to choose between food and other necessities like housing and medical care.

Hunger also disproportionately impacts minority populations in our community, including Latinx seniors, disabled or homebound seniors, and homeless seniors. 7 out of 10 minority seniors who live alone in Santa Cruz County are struggling to make ends meet, often resulting in a lack of access to the nutritious food they need.

Hunger also takes a severe toll on the health of our elderly neighbors, putting them at risk for chronic health conditions like depression, asthma, diabetes, and high blood-pressure.

Your support makes it possible for hungry seniors to have food for today and hope for tomorrow. Will you consider a gift to Second Harvest to help ensure that people like Paula always have access to the food they need to live a healthy and happy life?

Thank you for joining us in the fight to feed the hungry today and create solutions that end hunger tomorrow.
