Playground Project 2017 / San Clemente, Chile

About This Campaign

The community of San Clemente, California is well known for its beautiful child and family friendly spaces, be it our beaches or public parks. In 2016, the city began a large-scale effort to replace much of the existing playground equipment. This effort created a great opportunity to collaborate with Kids Around the World (KATW), a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. For more than 21 years KATW has been refurbishing harvested playgrounds and re-installing them in developing countries in hopes of improving the lives of children and enriching the receiving communities.

The two playgrounds at Marblehead Park were selected for the harvesting process with the intent to donate them to San Clemente’s Twin City in Chile. Local volunteers were used to help with the removal and have been instrumental in the refurbishment process. It is our desire to work in partnership with the City Council and Chamber of Commerce in order to generate the funding needed to see this project through to completion. Additionally, the opportunity to travel to San Clemente, Chile and participate in the re-installation will also be made available to this community.
