Raise a Hammer for HeroWork

Raise a Hammer for HeroWork

About This Campaign

This fundraising campaign will help increase the capacity and resiliency of local non-profit organizations, their staff, volunteers, and clients through HeroWork's Radical Renovations. It will also support HeroWork as we create bold new plans to expand our outreach.

For 2017 HeroWork is partnering with Power To Be to deliver multiple Radical Renovations. Power To Be empowers people living with barriers or disabilities to explore their limitless abilities through inclusive adventures rooted in nature. Activities include kayaking, canoeing, camping, surfing, hiking and indoor rock climbing.

Power To Be needs a home base. They need a hub with accessible waterfront, trails, and built spaces to support their programs and participants.

To meet this need, the Steele family is leasing the former Prospect Lake Golf Course for $1/year for 25 years. But the property nevertheless needs substantial upgrades, repairs, and additions.

HeroWork's job is to complete these renovations so that all of the infrastructure on the former golf course works for Power To Be, and the youth and families they serve.

Since 2011, HeroWork has renewed and revitalized the infrastructure of seven industrious non-profits in the greater Victoria region: the Rainbow KitchenCasa Maria Emergency Housing, the Mustard SeedThreshold HousingCitizens' Counselling Centre/Schizophrenia Society, and Camp Pringle by Shawinigan Lake.

The value of these exceed 1.75 million dollars. In order to sustain and grow our impact we need your support. Please donate today!

Campaign to Support HeroWork Program Society

HeroWork renews and refreshes charity buildings through exciting events called Radical Renovations. Imagine a modern day barn-raising, where community comes together with massive cooperation and common vision. Money, resources, and people are leveraged to achieve exceptional transformations of charity buildings at a small fraction of traditional costs and time. To date we have completed over 1.3 million dollars worth of renovations for charities, while mobilizing more than 170 companies and 1200 volunteers.

Radical Renovations are an example of what can be done when people work together with common vision and good planning. HeroWork is a registered charity whose longterm vision is to create a community infrastructure renewal movement across Canada and beyond through a social franchise model.
