As I was scrolling through some photos last month, one stopped me dead in my tracks! It was a picture taken during the Blessing of Kayla Dailey’s home. Blessings offer a chance for Kayla’s friends and family to pray over her new home and write blessings on the framing. It will eventually be covered by drywall but those sweet scriptures and thoughts will always be there. What made me stop mid-scroll? It was a message written to Kayla from her teenage daughter Hailey. It said simply “Thank you for this, mommy. I will always remember it.” Didn’t that give you goosebumps? What a powerful example Kayla has been to her children as she has walked this path toward homeownership! It is difficult to work on sweat equity, while maintaining a full-time job and being a single parent. But Kayla has not given up. She will be closing on her home next month and she can hardly contain her joy. She’s kept her promise to you, you can be so proud of her! I wanted to be sure you saw this because this is what you make happen every time you donate to Putnam County Habitat. Families who partner with Habitat are extremely grateful for your help. A decent home gives them the strength, stability and independence they need to create a better life for themselves and their families. Four families are currently active with Habitat. Matthew and Chrystal Phillips are hoping to begin work on their home in the fall. They can’t do that without your help! Your donation allows you a part in writing a happy ending for a family in need of decent housing. Won’t you send your gift today? God Bless you,
Melissa Parks, Development Director
