2018 is a big year for the United Way of Rochester. It's the organization's 100th anniversary and the year that a new President & CEO was brought on to lead it into the next century of advancing the common good. After a comprehensive search and from a field of 60 candidates, United Way's Board of Directors UNANIMOUSLY chose Jaime Saunders to be that leader. “I always had a passion for the community,” she said in a recent D&C interview. “I always had this passion of blending business practices and principles and social change.” Throughout her education and her early career at Salvation Army, St. Joseph’s Villa, and Foodlink; Jaime's passion for service was clear. As a researcher at the Center for Governmental Research, she helped governments and institutions analyze complex community issues to achieve better results; and the experience melded unique skill sets that will be critical to United Way’s data driven efforts. Most recently, Jaime led Willow Domestic Violence Shelter in their mission to prevent domestic violence and ensure every survivor has access to the services and supports needed along the journey to a safe and empowered life. While serving each individual with compassion, Jaime led an organization that grew its capacity to serve over 7,000 people annually in Monroe County; and oversaw the creation of a new $8 million dollar facility to provide Willow’s full-continuum of free and confidential services, without judgement. It’s no surprise the Board’s decision was unanimous. Jaime’s combination of passion and experience - of visionary and analytical thinking - make her an exceptional choice to lead United Way of Rochester into its second century of work towards a community where everyone can thrive. Please join us to hear a keynote address from this inspirational community leader!
