August was the month of great beginnings. Your support is changing the lives of Habitat families, one house at a time! On August 29, 2018, Matthew and Chrystal Phillips, along with their children, James and Haley, broke ground on their new Habitat home.
Matthew and Crystal have been raising their two children in a small rental home. James, who just turned 18 in August, sleeps on a bed in the basement. He hasn't had his own room since he was five. Haley has her own space but she doesn't have a closet. The family shares one bathroom. It's small but it's what they have, so they are grateful for it. On April 14th, 2017, two years to day since Chrystals mom passed away, she was standing in her driveway when the words "Let's get your family into a strong, affordable home!" were impressed upon her mind. Chrystal knew it was time to apply for a Habitat home, something her mom had encouraged her to do for years.
Fast forward to August 29th when the Phillips broke ground on a house that was only a dream two years ago! That's what your voice, your finacial support and your time do in Putnam County: help build strength, stability and indepence to families in need of a decent place to live.
