Volunteer - Women Build 2016

About This Campaign

VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED TO ALL WHO ARE NOT A PART OF ONE OF THE TEAMS LISTED BELOW.
Women Build is a sponsored house build of Habitat for Humanity St. Joseph County. It began with a group of women who believe in a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Women Build recruits, educates, and nurtures women to build and advocate for decent and affordable houses in their communities. It is not about excluding men, but about including women so they can learn construction skills in a more supportive environment. In 2015, hundreds of volunteers got their hands dirty and built a stable place for Lisa and and her children to call home. Women Build 2016 is inviting you to join us in building a home for a partner family this year.

The Women Build Committee is now recruiting builders and raising funds for our 16th annual Women Build project. Both men and women are invited to volunteer, donate, and fund-raise. Please volunteer to promote strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter for a local family.

Get involved in the 2016 Women Build!

Construction of the Women Build home relies on support from the community. Here’s how you can help:

•Make a donation to support our 2016 Women Build Family

•Start or join a Fundraising Campaign to raise funds

•Volunteer for one of our build days. Generally, the Women Build Committee recruits local organizations who provide funds and volunteers for our build days. If your organization is thinking about volunteering with Habitat, the Women Build is a great way to do so. Please contact mperkins@habitat-for-humanity.org if you are interested

•Lend a hand to the Women Build by offering your expertise or company support through an in-kind donation. To discover what Habitat needs for construction and volunteer recognition, please contact mperkins@habitat-for-humanity.org

•Anyone is invited to get involved as a Women Build advocate! Like us on Facebook and spread the word by using #WomenBuild on Facebook and Twitter

What is Women Build?

The Women Build is a unique Habitat build that brings together women in the community to build and fund a home for a deserving family. The mission of Humanity’s Women Build program is to recruit, educate and nurture women to build and advocate for simple, decent and affordable houses in their communities.

How does it work?

Women and men from all walks of life work together to raise the funds and raise the walls for the entire Women Build project. Habitat for Humanity will rely on more than 300 volunteers to construct the home and recruit friends and family to support their work through a peer-to-peer fundraising campaign. The volunteer-run Women Build Committee organizes the build.

Are there other Women Builds?

Women crews have already built more than 1,500 Habitat for Humanity houses within the United States, and in dozens of other countries. Women Build projects provide an environment in which women can feel comfortable learning skills they might not otherwise have the opportunity to learn. Learn more at www.habitat.org/wb.

Our 2016 Women Build will take place this summer, from May-August 2016.

The Partner Family will be assigned to the build in the coming weeks.
