A Message From Marbrisa Flores
In 2010, I sat in a bus for what seemed like forever! We were just going up and up higher and higher up the mountain until finally, it came to a stop and I set foot in Camp River Glen for the first time. My counselors were Gigglebox and Rafiki and I was so excited to have my first camp name ever! That week of camp was so empowering being with campers and counselors who inhaled the woodsy-ness of nature and of camp.
After that summer, I couldn't stop going back! The one thing I looked forward to every year was going to Camp River Glen. Over the years, I did classic camp, Unicorps, and WALL(my picture)! All of these were amazing experiences that allowed me to build life-long friendships.
Now, I'm 18 so I can't do camp anymore :(
BUT I'M A VOLUNTEER NOW!
It's such an amazing opportunity to be able to go back to UniCamp as a volunteer because I will be able to give back to the organization that already has given me so much.
With your donation, I will now be able to help other kids like myself go to camp. This is so important to me because UniCamp has made a huge impact in my life and I wish that more kids will experience this.
Session three this year is a very special one because we will be focusing on community empowerment specifically dealing with minority African American communities that are affected by negative stereotypes. We will focus on teaching these kids that they are capable of achieving any dreams they have because stereotypes do not define them. As a minority myself, I feel so honored to be a volunteer in this session and be able to make an impact in those kids' lives by sending them to camp with your donation, whatever it may be. Anything counts, and everything is appreciated :D
Much Woodsey Love, Arrowhead <3
