A Message From Marjorie Davison
Hi everyone, I am the CEO of the Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Agency and am excited to be leading Team Apprenticeship for this year's Women Build. Construction is a significant sector in Nova Scotia that depends on the quality of trained and certified trades people to ensure our houses and buildings are safe, functional and well built. The sector provides great training opportunities and viable careers in the skilled trades and is working to attract more women. Currently, only 6 percent of apprentices in Nova Scotia are women. The Agency is working hard in partnership with groups like Techsploration and Women Unlimited to change this statistic. We hope by participating in Women Build that we can demonstrate that women can do anything while contributing to better housing for Nova Scotians. Last year, I participated on the Dream Team. My photo is me with the certified Red Seal Carpenter who mentored me and my team on the site. I had a wonderful experience and helped raise $10,000. Please help me or any member of our Team Apprenticeship to reach our fundraising goal.
About This Campaign
Every woman has the power to change lives for the better. Habitat for Humanity NS Women Build is part of a global campaign that brings women together in a shared mission to help families in need of a "hand up".
No tools or construction experience needed. Simply put together a team of 10 interested, community- minded, connected women to spend a day on one of our build sites this fall. Each team is asked to raise $10,000. Reach out to your network, host an event or fundraise online. 100% of funds go directly to building homes for hardworking, low income Nova Scotia families.
Help spread the word through your social and personal networks. Connect your company to this unique event focused on women and empowerment through sponsorship opportunities.
