About This Campaign

Future homeowners Carl and Kendra applied for the Habitat Homeownership Program with a desire to provide their family with a place to not only live, but thrive. At the time of application, the couple had one daughter, Jaelynn, and another on the way. Carl and Kendra realized that their tiny two-bedroom apartment in New Philadelphia would soon be unfit for their growing family. In addition to living in cramped quarters, the apartment is unnecessarily expensive to heat. Space around the doors and windows plus vents to the outdoors that do not close have resulted in lofty utility bills. Because of these issues, Carl and Kendra made the decision to pursue their dream of homeownership and ultimately secure a place where Jaelynn and their newest daughter Emmalynn can live and grow. In addition to raising their children and fulfilling Habitat sweat equity requirements, Carl and Kendra work hard to provide for their girls. Carl has been employed with Northeast Erectors for nearly three years, constructing steel frames for industrial buildings which frequently requires out of state travel. Kendra cares for their girls when Carl is out of town and is employed as a nurse’s aid at Hennis Care Centre to help provide financially for her family. It is clear that Kendra and Carl make a great team and are willing to work hard and do what is necessary to accomplish their goals and provide a stable home for their family.

Carl and Kendra have been actively participating in the Habitat program during the months leading up to the start of their future home. In addition to furthering their knowledge in home maintenance and financial responsibility with education classes, the couple has contributed numerous hours of sweat equity on the homes of other families in the program. Soon, their knowledge and hard work will be directed toward building their future home in Beach City. They couldn’t be more excited. “We are looking forward to being able to call this our forever home and being able to watch our kids grow up in the same house,” Kendra said. “It will make a huge difference and I think we will be so happy!”
