Deadwiler Family Home Building Volunteers!

About This Campaign

Volunteers are the very foundation of Habitat for Humanity of the Roaring Fork Valley! Each year, over a thousand individuals in our community come together to help build homes with our partner families.

Come help build an affordable home with the Deadwiler Family!

Eagerly looking forward to life in their new home in Carbondale’s Keator Grove, five-year-old Nyomie Deadwiler and her little sister two-year-old Maliyah have already chosen paint colors for their bedroom. Their parents Alonzo and Kristina are equally excited. “To know that you’re going to be grounded in this valley is an amazing thing,” Kristina said. “There are no words to truly express the appreciation, gratitude, and excitement we have for the opportunity to partner with Habitat and help build our home.”

The Deadwiler Family was chosen from a field of 28 applicants to become Habitat homeowners. Kristina is a full-time Mom, and Alonzo is a service manager at Wells Fargo in Carbondale. Alonzo is no stranger to Habitat as he been a Wells Fargo volunteer with Habitat a number of times. He also has volunteered with Colorado Mountain College and Glenwood Springs High School.

Families that are selected to partner with Habitat in building and purchasing a home must meet certain requirements to prepare them for home ownership. Kristina explains, “We have to do first-time homebuyer classes. We have to save for closing costs and a mortgage.”

But their new home will be far more valuable in the Deadwilers’ eyes than the closing costs and their mortgage. Alonzo says, “The number of people who put love into our new home makes its sentimental value through the roof.”
