Sam's Work in Progress
Why the name? A special man named Sam Emerick once said “Love isn’t confined to words or pretty things. It’s action” and he lived with the belief that to help someone throw off the yoke of poverty, they needed safe, affordable housing. So this team, 'Sam's Work in Progress,'... we are continuing his work... in a small way... but its a small action that means a lot.

About This Campaign
Women Build is a national Habitat for Humanity program designed to provide a comfortable learning environment for women to discover they can build Habitat for Humanity homes!
This year’s Women Build will unite 360 women across Boone County. Each volunteer builder will raise a minimum of $250 contributing to our overall goal of $90,000. Every team of 10 builders will spend one day on the build site completing the home in just 30 days!
The funds raised during Women Build sponsor the land, infrastructure and materials needed for the home, as well as required homeowner education training. With your support we can continue to fulfill our mission of helping hard working, low income families here in Boone County. Thank you!
Meet our homeowner - Lysa Maxwell!
Lysa Maxwell is a delightful young woman whose smile will light up a room!
Her determination and tenacity have served her well. Despite several difficult times, Lysa has amazingly kept her positive attitude and become stronger.
She lives in Lebanon and has worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant for the past 17 years at the Frankfort Hospital....formerly St. Vincent and now IU, working three 12 hour shifts each week. For the last two years, she has worked a second job at the Zionsville Truck Stop, thus meeting her financial obligations.
Lysa has four children----Zach and Sarah who are grown, 18 year old Reilly and 10 year old Tara. She is a wonderful, loving Mom who always puts her family first. As their home conditions were extremely unsuitable, they were able to move into temporary transitional housing......while greatly anticipating moving into their very own Habitat home this fall.
